Many hotels and reception venues have event planners on staff to assist clients with all aspects of planning an event. There are also private companies that employ event planners to help with anything from a large birthday party to a national convention. Event planning involves coordinating all of the details related to putting on an event such as a conference, trade show, wedding reception, or party. A great event planner must possess event planning skills such as coordination skills, time management skills, planning skills, and problem-solving skills.
